I’m Magdalena Mahdy, founder of ProfitMIND and your soon-to-be financial friend. As a former wedding photographer and abstract artist, I know first-hand that creative souls often have a complicated relationship with numbers. That’s exactly why I’ve made it my mission to transform how creative businesses view their finances.

My Story
My journey began in 2010 in Berlin’s vibrant creative scene, where I discovered photography as an escape from my fast-paced advertising career. What started as street photography quickly blossomed into a passion that would change my life.
After moving to the UK, I took the leap into entrepreneurship, turning my creative passion into a successful wedding photography business.
But here’s where it gets interesting – while building my photography business, I discovered something unexpected: I absolutely LOVED the financial side of running a creative business. Crazy, I know! So much so that I started teaching other photographers how to become more business-savvy, even launching “The Audacious Babe” podcast at one point to share my insights.
My creative journey didn’t stop there, however. I later explored abstract art, even holding a gallery show in London. I’ve always been creative in one form or another all throughout my life.
These experiences taught me something crucial: creativity and business success aren’t opposites – they’re perfect partners when you know how to blend them.
Throughout my entrepreneurial adventures, I had an epiphany about business finances that changed everything. I realised that understanding numbers could be as intuitive as creating art, and this revelation sparked a new mission. I pursued professional financial qualifications, determined to help other creative businesses thrive while staying true to their artistic vision.
For the past 8 years, I’ve been working as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Essex, guiding budding business owners through their entrepreneurial journeys. I’ve also had the privilege of mentoring creative businesses through organizations like Creative UK and The Weave over the years, where I’ve seen first-hand how the right financial guidance can transform a creative venture into a sustainable success story.
